For many right here in our community, hygiene is a luxury.

Hygiene poverty is the inability to afford common everyday items such as soap, laundry detergent, and toothpaste that most of us often overlook. Unfortunately, many people simply go without these necessities.

RED CART PROGRAM

The Red Cart Program addresses increasing period poverty and is a collaboration between The Kindness Closet, United Way and Well Equipped Period to put period products in the bathrooms at local schools. Sign up for packing events here.

CLoset inside Mooresville Christian Mission

The original Kindness Closet has moved and is now located inside the Christian Mission at 266 N. Broad Street in Downtown Mooresville, NC. The Mission serves an average of 35 clients a day. Each of the clients will be able to choose their own household and hygiene items when they grocery shop at the Food Pantry. You can soon sign up to help keep this busy location stocked!

CLoset at Health REach Clinic

The Mooresville Kindness Closet is excited to launch a new shelf ‘closet’ inside HealthReach Community Clinic for its patients. HealthReach is the only free clinic in Iredell County and serves 800+ patients a year. This partnership allows Mooresville Kindness Closet to reach a population susceptible to hygiene poverty and also allows HealthReach to further its mission of wellness for its patients. Kindness Caravan

The new Kindness Caravan program removes transportation barriers and takes hygiene to those homebound or without access to transportation. We provide 85 hygiene kits to seniors each month and have numerous 'pop up' events to distribute hygiene to families. At the 2023 Back to School Bash alone, we handed out over 3,000 hygiene products.
